Convicted Pastor Jon Moore to Spend Holidays in Jail

Convicted former associate pastor Jon Moore will spend the holidays in jail after his sentencing was postponed. He pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust Oct. 23 and has been in jail pending his sentencing. He was scheduled to be sentenced Monday to a maximum of 60 days in jail. However, his sentencing has been delayed until January 5 due to delays in processing his pre-sentence investigation report. His attorney’s request to release him on bail for the holidays since he would have been released on Dec. 23, was denied by the judge.

I must give the judge a little kudos for that. The crime to which this man pleaded guilty carried a sentence of up to 12 years in prison if he had been found guilty at trial. By pleading guilty he bought himself a minor slap on the wrist. He was recorded on the phone effectively acknowledging his guilt to the teen involved. This man assaulted a teenager for approximately a year. He gets 60 days in jail and registers as a sexual offender. She is scarred for life.

I hope no one thinks this is justice.
