What the Bible Says About Divorce, V

I started this series to take apart each of the Scriptures that address the subject of divorce, or principles of marriage that bear on divorce. However, before I completed the series I discovered a book which thoroughly accomplished that work already. This is the book I would have written myself, had I the time and had she not beaten me to the punch.

So I recommend to you, Not Under Bondage: Biblical Divorce for Abuse, Adultery and Desertion, by Barbara Roberts. This work is comprehensive and extremely Biblically accurate.

She also covered things I hadn’t thought of, and for which I was grateful, such as the question of “what about our vows?” It was certainly a question I had addressed with God, but I had not realized the Biblical answer, which made so much sense I couldn’t believe we haven’t all known it all along! And she also looks closely into Jewish and church history for additional insights, which are quite revealing.

I highly recommend this book. It is by far, the definitive book on what the Bible says about divorce for the cause of abuse.
